WWPSP Mission - Prayer Points
Make a difference now! Support a Child Today!

. . . Seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

WWPSP Mission News

Issue 61 - Easter 2009

Battling on Despite Opposition

Rebuilding of the Yelchanahalli church has come to somewhat of a standstill in recent weeks. The shell of the building is up, but insufficient funds are making progress difficult.

Around £13,000 is needed to complete the building which will be the WWPSP Mission headquarters; housing the church, office, Pastor Johnson and the 24 hour prayer chain. As Pastor Johnson says, this funding issue "is very easy for God."

Despite this set back of funding, the 24 hour prayer chain, which will be called 'The Gate of Heaven' has already started, with church members praying in their own houses at different times to cover the 24 hours. Once the building is finished, the prayer chain will operate from there.

Opposition at the end of last year in India didn't stop work progressing either. Many churches were demolished in India by Hindu extremists; 30 in Bangalore. The Karnataka Government provided police security to all Christian churches. Pastor Johnson refused police security.

"We told them, the Holy Spirit is our safety, there is no need for police safety," he said. "God said, 'Build the church in my name and I will be pleased.' There is much opposition but the Holy Spirit is always with us," he added.

We continue to appeal for funding for the completion of this building.

A late happy Easter to all our supporters and thank you for your continued donations for this mission work.

We have had services and programs over Easter, remembering Jesus' death and resurrection. Many children and adults have had Easter Eggs here, but not at the orphanage where they would melt!

At the moment there is global uncertainty, people are unsure of many things. We know that with God, He will never leave us nor forsake us.

At this time, let us be encouraged that God is still at work in India and here. God does not say, "I'm having a bad time, I'll wait a while before I do anything." Be encouraged that: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

Let our prayer be, "Lord help us to be even closer to you, even in the hard times."

-Paul and Sarah

St THomas Orphanage Update

Life at the St Thomas Orphanage and School has come a long way since its humble beginnings with 5 poor children in a small cow hut. With some 100 children now resident at the orphanage in Kachuvadi, there is never a dull moment for staff and teachers alike.

The children are growing fast and it will soon be time for more of them to go to the secondary school in the next village. The orphanage can only teach primary children up to age 12. A large group of children went for a tour of the school recently, to prepare them for when they move up.

All orphanage children are also preparing to write their annual examinations.

As well as normal lessons, the children also get the opportunity for tailoring training, typing training, and now, much to the delight of the boys, scooter training!

Ministry Update

WWPSP Mission ministry is going well, with many exciting things happening in India. A recent baptism service at Kachuvadi saw eight new believers take this step of faith and move forward in their walk with God.

A vibrant youth service at Hosur (Pastor Selvin's main church) took place on 27th March, with 200 youths participating in the service and actively following God.

Pondicherry's church anniversary was also in March, with a lively service of celebration being enjoyed by all, in this growing church.

Please continue to pray for the ministry that is taking place in India!

Financial Update

Thank you to everyone who regularly supports WWPSP Mission. Without your support the work would not be possible.

At the end of the financial year, quick calculations show that £6,750 came in for the year April 2008 - April 2009. Tax back on some donations will be claimed in due course and final figures available in summer 2009.

Please continue to be faithful in your giving and support this work through 2009-2010.

News in Brief

PASTOR JOHNSON'S health is not good at the moment. We are waiting to hear how he is. Please pray for him. PAstor Abraham stepped in recently and conducted the baptism service and Pastor Selvin undertakes more day to day duties.

A SCOTTER was recently given to the orphanage to enable workers to travel to and from this remote area more easily.

TRUNK BOXES were donated to the orphanage recently, giving every child somewhere to put their clothes and personal belongings. Shelves have now been put up to house the boxes and provide more space in their living accommodation.

TOILETS are now up and running. After a delay with installing the septic tank, the much needed 12 new toilets are finally working.
